Challenge
Within a project in the petrochemical industry in the Czech Republic, a solution was required for the transition and interconnection of different types of medium-voltage cables. The key requirements were a clear cable arrangement, sufficient space for handling large-diameter cables, and the maintenance of operational safety.
Our Solution
IVEP supplied a medium-voltage transition cabinet, designed as a technical node enabling clear and safe interconnection of incoming and outgoing cables within the power distribution system.
All cables are routed into the cabinet from the top, which simplifies installation within the given technological layout and provides clear orientation of cable routes.
Technical Specifications
- Rated voltage: 12 kV
- Rated current: 1,250 A
- Short-circuit withstand: 31.5 kA / 1 s
Cable Connections
The cabinet was designed to accommodate different cable types and diameters:
- Incoming:
– 2 × cable 6-AHKCH-R 3 × 240/6, outer diameter 56 mm - Outgoing:
– 3 × cable 6-AYKCY 3 × 240, outer diameter 66 mm
The internal layout of the cabinet ensures sufficient clearances, mechanical stability of the cables, and safe connections without excessive mechanical stress.
Result
- Clear and safe interconnection of MV cable routes.
- Design adapted for large-diameter cables.
- Simplified installation and subsequent maintenance.
- The equipment was delivered on December 17, 2018, and successfully put into operation.
IVEP Value
This project demonstrates IVEP’s ability to design purpose-built technical solutions that are not about power switching, but about proper, safe, and long-term reliable interconnection of cable systems in demanding industrial applications.
